FOOT REFLEXOLOGY

Foot Reflexology - Description

The exact history of Foot Reflexology has been lost to antiquity, but there is substantial information suggesting its use as long as 5,000 years ago in China, Egypt and India.  Popularized in London in the 1890’s and brought to the US by Dr. William Fitzgerald in the 1920’s, foot reflexology uses deep pressure and focused massage on specific foot zones to effect a whole body treatment through the feet alone.  Foot reflexology has proven effective in a wide range of disorders including Headache, Constipation, Diarrhea, Low Back Pain and more.  It can also assist in lymphatic drainage and detox programs.

CUPPING and GUA SHA TREATMENT

Cupping or Gua Sha Sessions

Cupping and Gua Sha are traditional methods of releasing deep stagnation in the body.  Suitable for many things from acute colds to long standing chronic pain, Cupping and Gua Sha are a unique experience.

Cupping involves the placement of glass cups on the back.  These cups are warmed to create suction and literally pull the stagnation from deep inside the body to the surface where it can be processed and removed.  The result is often an engaging pattern that looks like a giant squid attacked you, and the experience is like a deep massage with great relief.

Gua Sha, also called scraping, involves either a Chinese spoon or a traditional gua sha scraping tool which is rubbed along the upper back, neck shoulders or other areas where pain presents.  Suitable for more acute colds, flus and superficial pain, it too feels like a deep massage with great relief.  A pattern of color usually presents itself here as well.

Cupping and Gua Sha marks generally fade in 3-5 days.  The more color, the more stagnation is present in the body.  With repeat sessions, the color will cease to emerge until you can cup or gua sha to your hearts delight and show no color or stagnation at all!
