Every aspect of our life has the potential to provide vitality and to promote health and wellness. It is my job and intention as a Chinese Medicine Practitioner to help you unlock that potential and maintain a vital balance in your life. To that end, I will use the full range of healing methods and tools at my disposal to do so.
Raised in a Kansas home that embraced massage therapy, herbal medicine, Chinese nutrition, qigong and hatha yoga, I was oriented toward holistic health and wellness at an early age. I even developed a talent for therapeutic bodywork through observation and hands on learning from my parents, who practiced massage therapy professionally.
Later during college in California, I further explored and expanded these holistic values, taking classes on meditation, yoga, martial arts and even sustainable agriculture and organic gardening. Learning about the farm to table gap in our society’s food industry and having the experience of growing food for myself provided a powerful lens for looking at how out of balance we as a society are with our environment and our bodies.
After college, I worked as an urban farmer, cultivating former abandoned lots in Oakland, CA to grow food. I spent a year working outside growing vegetables and pulling weeds. Spending so much time with plants and other plant enthusiasts, I began to learn about the medicinal value of many so-called ‘weeds’. The more I learned the more I saw these maligned plants as new-found allies for bringing our bodies back into balance.
A few years later, I moved to Santa Cruz, CA where my curiosity for herbal medicine blossomed and I began searching for a path toward professional clinical training. It was this search that led me to Chinese Medicine as a medical discipline and a life path. I’m grateful to have found such a rich and profound tradition of natural medicine.
I studied and trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the New England School of Acupuncture near Boston, MA. I have over 3,000 hours of classroom and clinical training in both Western and Chinese Medicine. I graduated with a Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Now I’m licensed to practice Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine in both Washington and Oregon. A lifelong study, I continue to deepen my understanding of Acupuncture, Chinese Medicine and the healing potential of the body with classes, workshops and self-study.
